Tartan Sources

Flying Shuttle Kiltmaking does not keep bolts of wool tartan in-stock, rather, customers may select a tartan and it will be ordered for them from one of the mills or suppliers listed below.  Any applicable shipping, taxes, or duties on the tartan are worked into the cost of the garment.

Most tartans come in “double width” (52-60”), which is more cost-effective than purchasing “single width” tartan.  Double width tartan is cut lengthways and the two pieces are spliced together to produce the yardage required in the kilt.  For example, a kilt that requires 8 metres of yardage can be made out of 4 metres of double width tartan.
